    My Beautiful Dog...
On the morning of my 13th birthday August 18 1998, my family piled into the car and set out in search of our new dog. We arrived at the breeder's home to 8 bouncing yellow lab puppies, 4 boys, and 4 girls. The breeder loaded the boys up onto the bed of his truck so we could get a better look. How do you pick the right dog out of the group of sleeping fluff? Since it was my birthday it was my decision: I picked the soft-coated, bleach-blond puppy on the left. We named him after my dad's first dog, Hillbear.

Despite a lifelong battle with Pancreitis, a dysfunction of the pancreas that causes him mild discomfort everyday because he is unable to properly digest his food, Hillbear is an energetic, unstoppable dog. His greatest love in life is fetching, come rain, shine, or lake water :-) second only to walks in the park with his older adopted brother Manny. Because of this fetching fetish, Hillbear has sadly lost many of his teeth, and so his older brother graciously chewed Hillbear's rawhide bones for him first, to soften them up. In exchange, Hillbear was always willing to clean Manny's ears.

Hillbear Mitchel is now 9 1/2 years old, and in the hospital. He contracted a severe bacterial infection on Saturday that quickly attacked his kidneys, heart, and subsequently all of his organs. The medication from the Pet Hospital is fighting the bacteria as effectively as it can, his heart palpatations are completely gone, but if Hillbear doesn't regain high level kidney function within the next 12-24 hours...he'll have to be put down. Right now he's not in pain, but the prognosis is not good. If there is any emergency in the middle of the night, my mom will be giving authorization to end his suffering.

If you are reading this, please send love or prayers or ANYTHING to my poor dog, who I can't even physically be with when he needs me. I feel like I'm losing a child, and I don't care how pathetic that sounds.

Back in the Bay, trying to get back out again
Well I spent Dec 21-28 in Seattle with family, friends, and Jon. I think I slept a grand total of 2 nights in my parents house. Dec 28-Jan 1 in Canada with MMandCo, AWESOME! What a shit show :-), admit it Loppy and Panda. Jan 1-4 in Bellingham alone with Jon. It was nice to be just the two of us and not be running around, obligated to WAY too many people and events. Jan 4-6 in Seattle again before heading home to the Bay Area.

So what now? Preparing for Amy Tice's visit in 4 days!!! HOLLA.

Also submitted a proposal to my rotational manager about me moving to the Kirkland office. One of the recruiters in Seattle heard that there is an HR coordinator position opening up with this awesome HR Manager in Kirkland, but it's not publicly or even internally advertised yet. So I scooped that one up as soon as I heard about it, researched the position and wrote my managers an email about how awesome it would be to work with them on the possibility of rotating there :-) So ever since I've been scanning apartments in Kirkland (premature, I know).

Jon has all his apps in as of last night. He's skiing today and every Sunday until the end of the quarter, he signed up for a skiing class at Western. Well, whatever makes him happy. No news on when he'll hear back about his apps. All his recs are finally in though, so at least no more worrying about that.

    It's that time again folks
It's time to perfect your backstroke as Mercury turns
retrograde in the sign of the Fish just in
time for Valentine's Day! Since Pisces is the most
sensitive sign of the zodiac, you are likely to
feel a bit thin-skinned recollecting recent agreements, ideas and
conversations -- especially those pertaining to matters of the
heart. Bear in mind that, because of the psychic
nature of this water sign, anything left unsaid may
emerge as much more important than feelings that have
been put into words. However, don't overthink every nuance
of your emotions, silent or otherwise. Strive to maintain
control over your mood, and don't jump to conclusions
until you have a handle on all the facts!

When Mercury reenters airy Aquarius on February 26,
your more logical mind will return -- somewhat. Mercury
will still be retrograde, but the movement away from
emotional Pisces into detached Aquarius will provide some clarity.
Mercury retrograde phases are like an extended conversation, allowing
you to repeatedly review and reinterpret the finer points
of each moment. Take your time! With Mercury in
this innovative air sign, you have the opportunity to
develop your ideas more thoroughly and to return to
trains of thought with those who can help. Additionally,
if you know which house -- or houses --
Mercury is traveling through in your natal chart, you
can use that knowledge to further utilize and appreciate
all aspects of the current retrograde. And, of course,
hold off on any major decision-making until after Mercury
turns direct on March 7: Mercury retrograde periods are
infamous for wreaking havoc on otherwise perfectly well-informed plans!

    I miss him so much.

    Nothing makes it better.

I'm distracting myself: I'm taking a full load of classes, doing my homework, watching movies, eating out with friends, being an active board member in both of my student orgs, and nothing, absolutely NOTHING takes the salt out of the wound.

I don't wanna be with him. But that doesn't mean I like being without him.

What do I have to do, sell my soul to the devil? I'd rather hate him, be angry all the time, than feel this sad and useless.

    All About Aquarius</p></b></a>

Let's get this show on the road by telling the Aquarians out there exactly what they want to hear (which, fortunately, also happens to be the whole truth about this sign): You, Aquarius, are one of a kind. Every single Water Bearer is absolutely unique in every possible way -- and there's a very real reason for that. These folks work hard to ensure that they're completely and noticeably different from the crowd. And just in case others don't pick up on it from the way they dress or the jewelry they wear, Aquarians get their point across the moment they voice their opinions. But those opinions, while radical and rebellious, are also somehow completely, totally and inarguably logical. In short, those born under this month's sign are the ultimate observers of humankind, which makes them able to not just understand but also empathize with any and all points of view -- no easy task.

When it comes to relationships, the influence of Aquarius's ruling planet -- unpredictable, freedom-loving Uranus -- is obvious. If you're a Water Bearer yourself, you know you've got a taste for what might gently be called 'the unusual.' (In other words, anyone who's liable to startle your friends and family when you bring them home for Sunday dinner will do just fine.) But before you issue that all-important invitation, there's a very specific list of qualities you run over in your mind: If they're completely different from anyone you've ever known, that's a plus. And if they honestly don't know how to be prejudiced against anyone, in any way, you may well be in love -- and you've certainly found a potential match.

Of course, persuading an Aquarius to give up their precious freedom is a tall order -- but the rewards are well worth the efforts! In short, holding on with an open hand is absolutely the only way to keep things going when you're flirting with unconventionality -- but once Aquarius has found the one, they'll make of their partner not just a lover and a spouse, but also a lifelong best friend.

The astrological month begins on a note of open-minded enthusiasm as both the Sun and Mercury leap into Aquarius. (And when those two meet on the 26th? Just make sure that enthusiasm -- squared -- doesn't get the better of you!) Start going after any romantic needs you've been ignoring when Venus ends her retrograde journey on February 3. And by Valentine's Day, sit back and enjoy some delightful socializing -- with friends and lovers alike -- courtesy of Venus and Jupiter's sextile. Read on for more details on this unconventional, but decidedly romantic, month!

    January 20: Sun enters Aquarius

Aquarius is often mistaken for a water sign because its symbol is the Water Bearer. This sign is actually part of the air element and is connected to the world of ideas. Many Aquarians are known for being forward thinking, unconventional and even rebellious. Often their ideas are cutting-edge, which can be both a blessing and a curse. Every year as the Sun transits Aquarius, you have the opportunity to be less conservative, to be a bit of a wild child and add something totally different, innovative and exciting to your life.

    January 22: Venus opposite Saturn

Opposition aspects give us the chance to stand back and get a good look at what's going on. With the relationship planet, Venus, in the friendship sign, Aquarius, connecting with the reality planet, Saturn, it's time to examine your important relationships. Do you feel appreciated by others? Is there a spirit of friendship and equality? Facing limitations -- both yours and others -- helps you to make realistic choices and establish healthy boundaries.

    January 22: Jupiter square Uranus

Change is in the air as Jupiter, the planet of beliefs and worldview, squares independent Uranus. You may feel restless and decide to make radical changes in your life. Jupiter's placement in Sagittarius brings enthusiasm and optimism along with the urge to ramble and roam. Independent Uranus in Pisces has similar themes, but leans toward exploring the spiritual and emotional realms. Your world and your beliefs are shifting, making it important for you to be open to new circumstances.

    January 26: Venus sextile Pluto

This lovely aspect of Venus sextile Pluto brings opportunities to deepen your connections with others. There is nothing superficial about Pluto, whose tendency is to express everything passionately, while the planet of love, Venus, is all about relating. Together, these two manifest the healing power of love, so this is a great time to express your affection. Pick up the phone, write a poem or plan a quiet evening out with someone near and dear to you.

    January 27: Venus enters Pisces

Venus continues it recent soulful theme entering Pisces. Communing with others on a spiritual level is extra important right now. Venus's previous placement in Aquarius centered on the more enduring friendship qualities of love, whereas watery Pisces is wholly immersed in the feeling world. There are times when love needs no words.

    January 31: Mercury sextile Pluto

Mercury the communicator loves connecting with intense Pluto, especially in an aspect that offers connection opportunities with people in influential positions. You have exceptionally creative ideas and the ability to sell them. This is a great climate and will provide uncommon receptivity to your ideas. Look around you. Who are the movers and shakers, the powers that be? They are there to help you, so make the connection.

February 1: Full Moon in Leo
Heightened emotions are always a feature of full Moons, and when mixed with Leo, oversensitivity is probable. The tendency is to allow your ego to have a bit more voice than it should. At its best, Leo is the sign of healthy self-expression, creativity and leadership. There is so much boldness and strength in this sign, and if you can step forward in a great way, people are sure to take notice. From now until the next new Moon on February 17, see if you can cultivate a more fun-loving, confident approach to life. Be the Sun in the center of your own solar system and shine brightly.

This full Moon will most affect those born January 31-February 4, May 2-6, August 4-8 and November 4-8.

    February 2: Mercury enters Pisces

When the planet of communication enters the most imaginative sign of the zodiac, you're likely to dream up things you wouldn't ordinarily. Keep a journal of your most inspiring ideas. You'll be returning to them when Mercury goes retrograde in Pisces on February 14. Find quiet time and give your mind a chance to swim around in the cosmic soup. You'll be surprised at all the insight you receive.

    February 3: Mars sextile Uranus

Are you ready to try something different? With action-oriented Mars in an opportunity aspect with wild and zany Uranus, you are likely to feel itchy for new experiences. It's time to make some changes. You won't want to disrupt your world, but do follow your impulse to shake things up a bit. This is an aspect that maximizes possibilities. Open your mind and make the most of this interesting time.

    February 3: Sun sextile Jupiter

The Aquarius Sun loves Jupiter in Sagittarius! Both of these signs are interested in freedom and independence, and this aspect provides plenty of chances to improve your life and open your world. Whether you take a trip, get together with friends or start an interesting project at work, it's time to break out of your usual day-to-day routine (otherwise, you are likely to feel restless and irritable). Life's too short to not take advantage of the opportunity to spice things up a bit.

    February 7: Venus conjunct Uranus

Are you ready for a refreshing change in your relationships? With this planet of love joining exciting Uranus, one thing is for sure: you won't be bored this week. This is a wonderful aspect to strengthen your connections. Keep an open mind with everyone you meet. It's time to move out of relationship ruts.

    February 8: Sun conjunct Neptune

The Sun conjuncts Neptune once a year, marking a new beginning, a new cycle and a new dream. Neptune represents the we-are-all-one principle, where there are no divisions or boundaries, and alludes to a spiritual connection. The Sun is all about self-definition, so the potential when the Sun and Neptune come together is to experience your spiritual nature or to feel confused about who you are ... probably a little of both. This marks an idealistic, dreamy period. The Saturn opposition later this week will help you get your feet back on the ground.

    February 9: Venus square Jupiter

Now that Venus is moving away from its conjunction with Uranus, things will calm down -- hopefully. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, and this aspect can expand the pleasure principle represented by Venus, making this a time to beware of over-indulgence. But Jupiter also symbolizes beliefs, so in this square it's beneficial to make sure your relationships reflect your deepest-held beliefs. Venus in Pisces wants that romantic spiritual connection, yet Jupiter in Sagittarius wants to explore and roam. How do you get these two aspects to balance out? That's your problem to solve this week.

    February 10: Sun opposite Saturn

Once a year, the Sun opposes serious Saturn, casting a spotlight on the rule-maker. This opposition always occurs at the halfway point of the Saturn retrograde period. Although this year the Saturn-Neptune opposition gives added complexity, it's still time to stand back and review how you're structuring your life. What important decisions are you making about yourself and the way you're living your life? As you enter the challenge of self-evaluation, make sure you don't slip over the line from assessing to depressing! This is simply a time to see how you can support yourself more effectively. Facing limitations and shedding old behaviors may be part of this process

    February 13: Venus sextile Mars

Venus in romantic Pisces and Mars in ambitious Capricorn make a great team in this water-earth combo. Venus softens the hard edges of Mars, and Mars provides a strong shoulder to lean on. If it weren't for the fact that they are both about to make a quincunx (150 degree) aspect tomorrow forming a major aspect pattern called a Yod, everything would remain all sweet. Grab it today while it lasts!

February 14: Venus and Mars quincunx Saturn

Although Venus and Mars are getting along famously, they're both held in check by the taskmaster, Saturn. Delays, restrictions and stop signs are all cautioning you to take your time and pay attention. Is somebody or something running interference? It may be as simple as the fact that you can't find a babysitter, or your honey has a last-minute work assignment that delays your Valentine's Day celebration. Perhaps your restaurant reservations weren't made in time. Be flexible.

February 14: Mercury retrogrades in Pisces

Mercury entered empathic Pisces on February 2. You may be feeling a bit thin-skinned now as Mercury turns retrograde in this sensitive water sign. Take time alone to gather your thoughts and to tune into yourself without distractions. Have no fear -- Mercury will retrograde back into Aquarius later this month, and your logical mind will return. But for the time being, keep your emotions in check and don't act until you know all of the facts. Take your time and don't be impulsive. And, of course, defer decision-making until after Mercury turns direct on March 8. This aspect is renown for people making mistakes.

February 17: New Moon in Aquarius
Aquarius is the sign of freedom and independence. With the new Moon in this hopeful sign, you'll want to tune into the pleasure and comfort of others. Teamwork is your motto for this lunar cycle. Put energy into something you want to become stronger and more important in your life. Pluto forms a beautiful sextile aspect, which helps you deepen your connections with not only the people you love, but with humanity itself.

This new Moon will most affect those born February 15-19, May 17-21, August 19-23 and November18-22.

Enjoy the Sun's transit in Aquarius!

I am a bad substantial updater.

There was Mountain Day with a Study Abroad Fair. I auditioned for Chamber Singers solos this week. 80's Night at Diva's with some Montpellieraines. Calling of France on Tuesday and Friday so that I could finally get up the courage to tell Jacques about Jon. It wasn't that I was scared to do it, I just didn't know if Jacques already knew or not and since he's been calling me "poupee" recently I didn't know if the information would gain an emotional response. Things are fine, we made jokes about it, it was actually a really fun conversation and I miss bantering with him, BUT NOT IN THAT WAY.

I haven't done any of my work for next week yet. Oy vey. My french paper is actually scaring me a tiny bit. THe profesor pushed the due date because of Mountain Day but the subjects freak me out a little bit. I don't know why. I think it's cuz we breifly discussed them in class but never came to any actual conclusions about them. Grr.

so creepy i had to post
Regarding Jacques, I had the folling conversation with a friend:
[23:29] domahoe44: no matter what he does it's always less than want i would want
    ...
[23:33] domahoe44: but I just wanted him to be something he isn't
[23:34] domahoe44: I need to get away from trying to make him into the man I want him to be
[23:34] domahoe44: and just accept him for the disappointment that he is

And then I checked my horoscope...
    UNREALISTIC IDEALS
During this time you should be careful of your relationships. This influence has many possibilities, some good, some difficult. Your unrealistic ideals may lead to acute disappointment with loved ones, unless you make an effort to understand and accept the reality of your relationships. A typical illusion to beware of is picturing yourself in a love relationship as the unselfish, giving one who sacrifices everything for the other. This is a blatant ego game in which the ultimate purpose may be to gain control over the other by manipulating feelings of obligation. Although this influence is capable of producing a beautiful romantic experience, you cannot depend upon it continuing forever. Enjoy it for itself and do not make demands upon it. Beauty does not need to be justified.

    Humble Body
    62% mind-love and 40% body-love!
That's right! You are physically humble! In my opinion, humility is a great virtue. Regardless of the true state of your body, you don't consider yourself superior to others. Even if you are totally hot.

Humble individuals are most likely to recongnize flaws in themselves and therefore are best equipped for improvement.

The smiley face in the below graph indicates where you lie, in a 2-D measure of self-love. I'm continually adjusting the cutoffs. What this means: a "normal" says you really are around the average, and a "cocky" says you really are cockier than most other people. Based on some real-world testing, I have some final advice:

    • don't date someone if your squares are not sharing an edge or corner.
    • friendships more than 2 squares away probably aren't healthy.

    Isis
Indeed, you are 79% erudite, 87% sensual, 54% martial, and 33% saturnine.
This Egyptian supreme Goddess is certainly the most influential deity on subsequent cultures. She was the ideal figure of womanhood, usually compared with the Greek Goddess Demeter or her Roman version, Ceres.

Isis was one element of a Holy Trinity, the remaining two figures being her brother and husband Osiris and their heroic son Horus. She was the Goddess of Magic for her brilliance, as well as the Goddess of Love because of her tenacious devotion.

She is often shown with wings, curving to caress coffins and sarcophagi of many a king. In certain papyri she is shown with her falcon wing headdress, covering her ears. One of her sacred symbols is the sistrum, a musical instrument that was believed to ward off evil spirits. Isis' sistrum was carved bearing the image of a cat and was representative of the Moon.

Isis was the High Priestess and an omnipotent magician as well as the only being ever to discover the secret name of Ra. She invariably carries the ankh, the symbol for eternal life. Her name is, by the rules of numerology, adding up to the number “2” and she just so happens to be depicted on the tarot card “Key 2 – The High Priestess”.

    Televangelist
You are 42% Rational, 71% Extroverted, 42% Brutal, and 57% Arrogant.
As the Lord as my witness, I swear upon the good book that you are indeed the TELEVANGELIST! Characterized by extreme arrogance, self-assurance, and extroversion, you would make a very charismatic leader (or a very despotic one). On top of that, you are also more intuitive than rational, predisposing you to a more spiritual or emotional outlook on life. Thus, you are thoroughly irrational. You also tend to be rather gentle and considerate of others' feelings. Clearly, you would make the perfect televangelist. Emotional, extroverted, arrogant, and gentle, you annoy the hell out of people who have to listen to the feel-good, intuitive shit spewing from your mouth. Not only that, but people may look down on you as a self-centered asshat. So while you are gentle and genuinely care about others, it is quite clear that you still care about yourself MORE. Why is your personality flawed? Because you are too damned extroverted, emotional, and arrogant. So preach your irrational message, brotha-man! I assure you, no one will be listening!

    To put it less negatively:

    1. You are more INTUITIVE than rational.

    2. You are more EXTROVERTED than introverted.

    3. You are more GENTLE than brutal.

    4. You are more ARROGANT than humble.

    Compatibility:

Your exact opposite is the Spiteful Loner.

Other personalities you would probably get along with are the Hippie, the Starving Artist, and the Robot.

    *

    *

If you scored near fifty percent for a certain trait (42%-58%), you could very well go either way. For example, someone with 42% Extroversion is slightly leaning towards being an introvert, but is close enough to being an extrovert to be classified that way as well. Below is a list of the other personality types so that you can determine which other possible categories you may fill if you scored near fifty percent for certain traits.

    The other personality types:

The Emo Kid: Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Starving Artist: Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Bitch-Slap: Intuitive, Introverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Brute: Intuitive, Introverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Hippie: Intuitive, Extroverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Televangelist: Intuitive, Extroverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Schoolyard Bully: Intuitive, Extroverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Class Clown: Intuitive, Extroverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Robot: Rational, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Haughty Intellectual: Rational, Introverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Spiteful Loner: Rational, Introverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Sociopath: Rational, Introverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Hand-Raiser: Rational, Extroverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Braggart: Rational, Extroverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Capitalist Pig: Rational, Extroverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Smartass: Rational, Extroverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

Sarah, the best Zodiac Match for your personality is Taurus

Taurus, the Bull (April 21 to May 21): This warmhearted and determined partner is just your type. Initially, a Taurus may catch your eye with a romantic gesture or their penchant for having a good time. But as you get to know them, you're even more likely to be drawn to your Taurean's unwavering devotion and dedication. People born under this sign typically know what they want out of life and stick by the decisions they've made. This devotion to their own truths can make members of this sign seem stubborn or critical at times. However, know that most Taureans are also sentimental types who like to focus on their romantic relationships. In the bedroom, you're apt to find that the Bull is a creative and expressive lover with a high sex drive. It's just another aspect of their vital nature, one that finds pleasure in everyday things and has an eye for beauty.

    Your Leo Drinking Style

You love to drink and dance -- you're likely a fabulous dancer.
You're usually pretty a good drinker as well, losing your commanding dignity and turning kittenish.
Of course, you're quite aware you're darling -- Leos will be Leos, after all.
You generally know your limit, probably because you loathe losing self-control.

When you get over-refreshed, flirting will ensue -- and perhaps not with the person what brought you.
But you are not the type to break rules even when drunk, so others try to ignore your naughty behavior.
You'll just make up for it with a sheepish (and hung over) apology the next day.
    Your Signature Cocktails
Leos like flashy drinks, be they complicated tropical concoctions festooned with umbrellas, like a Bahama mama or the more common strawberry daiquiri or mai tai. Indeed, you often have a taste for the fruity -- try a screwdriver, or add an extra cherry to the next Manhattan. Your sense of drama lends itself to a kir royale, of course.
    Your Celebrity Drinking Buddies
Edward Norton, Bill Clinton, Madonna, Debra Messing, Martha Stewart, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Christian Slater, and Fred Durst.
